La péninsule Antarctique se situe dans l’hémisphère occidental, plus ou moins dans la continuité de l’Amérique du Sud.

La péninsule est très montagneuse, ses plus hauts pics atteignant environ 2 800 m. C’est donc la région du continent blanc la plus variée au niveau des paysages et la plus riche au niveau de la faune.

Le climat de la péninsule étant le plus doux du continent (0 à 5°C en été, -20 à -10°C en hiver), la plupart des stations de recherches y sont construites ou sur les îles avoisinantes.

La péninsule est également le site le plus chargé d’histoire. Suivre les pas des premiers grands explorateurs rend l’expédition d’autant plus fascinante !
